Inspired by Middle-Eastern cabarets that flourished in Cairo in the 1940s, Leylet Hob (A Night of Love) is a night of film and performances presenting screenings, music and dance performances, and DJ sets.

Leylet Hob draws its title from the eponymous classic Arabic song composed in the 1960’s by musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab, interpreted by the legendary Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum, and repeatedly covered since its first release. Conceived as an interdisciplinary festive program, and bringing together moving image, music and dance, the event is ingrained in modern and contemporary Middle-Eastern popular culture, and set inside an infamous Turkish club in Kreuzberg.

Leylet Hob is organized by Paris-based curator Martha Kirszenbaum and brings together films by Fatima Al Qadiri, Sophia Al Maria, Meriem Bennani and Sara Sadik; a performance by Lafawndah with a classical Arabic band; a belly dance performance by Zadiel; and DJ sets by Habibi Funk and Raed Yassin.
